Mohammed Shabaj Ahmed
I'm a robotics researcher with a deep curiosity for how we can use machines to solve meaningful human problems, especially in the areas of health and wellbeing. My journey has taken me through automotive engineering, tech startups, and academia, but the common thread is always the same: using technology to improve people's lives.
I approach problems from a human-centered perspective. Whether I'm developing embedded systems or designing user-focused robotic interactions, I believe in using the right tools for the job and learning new ones when needed. I bring a cross-disciplinary mindset that helps me connect ideas across domains and see patterns others might miss.
PhD candidate (Preparing for Viva): My PhD research focuses on human-robot interaction, exploring how socially assistive robotics can support healthy habit formation. I design and evaluate robot-led interventions that encourage behaviour change, drawing from behavior science, robotics, and health technology.
Outside of work, I like to explore interests that blend creativity, experimentation, and personal growth.
DIY & Mechatronics: I enjoy tinkering with electronics, making custom tools, and solving everyday problems with technology, building things has always been a creative outlet for me.
Hackathons: I regularly take part in hackathons focused around health, and robotics. These events are a chance to push boundaries, learn new tools and technologies, and collaborate with like-minded people, especially in areas that promote health, wellbeing, and accessibility.
I'm always open to collaborating on projects that aim to improve lives through technology. If you're working in human-robot interaction, assistive systems, or health innovation, I'd love to hear from you, whether it's to brainstorm an idea, explore a research partnership, or build something together.
